Tree of Lights Luncheon Raises Over 4K

Saturday, December 6, 2014 @ 10:33 AM

Prince George, B.C. – The numbers are in and the Salvation Army’s Tree of Light’s Luncheon has been deemed a success.

“The luncheon went great yesterday. We managed to almost sell out so we had about $3,000 in ticket sales and an auction brought in another $1,300,” says business coordinator Bill Glasgow. sally anne

He says he’s thrilled with the result considering ticket sales were sluggish mid-week.

“It’s a typical Prince George last minute thing.”

Glasgow says all the funds raised will go towards the Salvation Army and the work they do in the community.

As for the kettle campaign he says they’ve raised $74,200 so far which he calls “a little off the mark of where we would hope to be at this point.”

He says the goal is to raise $250,000 by the time the campaign ends Christmas Eve which he says will fund their annual budget for next year.

Glasgow encourages anyone who’d like to volunteer to call 250-596-4673.

Something funny with the numbers. An article here earlier this week stated that they had 300 tickets for sale at $30.00 per ticket.

$3000.00 in ticket sales, means only one third of the tickets were sold.

So, not sure how this could be construed as a success.

4$30.

I think they figure any income is a success….
and I guess in some way it is….
it does look like they have a long way to go yet to meet their quota or needs.

The ballroom was near to capacity as far as we could tell, not too many empty seats. The food was first rate.
$4,000.00 ? I’d call that a success, assuming that that is their net take after costs.
