Relief at the Pump Continues

Prince George, B.C. – Gas prices in Prince George remain some of  the cheapest in the province.

It will come as no surprise to anyone that Costco’s listed price of 100.9 is tied with the Costco in Abbotsford for the lowest in the province.

Meanwhile the majority of stations in Prince George are charging in the 104.9/105.9 range with the exception of two stations in the Hart charging 115.9.

Provincially the average sticker price is 114.688 while nationally it’s 107.580 (all prices courtesy www.gasbuddy.com).

UNBC economics professor Paul Bowles says it’s tricky to predict if the downward trend will continue though.

“The bigger picture really depends on whether production increases in OPEC or whether they cut production which will force the price up again.”

Thank God for Costco.

A shame Costco doesn’t sell diesel.

I feel for the companies that need diesel to survive and function but the people that have diesel pickups as grocery getters? I hope you enjoy an extra .30 per litre for the “cool” factor. Not sure which you are? Its easy to tell – if you only have a class 5 license (max 10,000 lb towing) then you do not NEED a diesel…

Way to go Costco!!! I am thankful for Costco

Last time oil was at $68 a barrel we where paying around 80 cents a litre.

And if anyone still believes the rise and fall in oil prices is entirely based on the so-called Law of Supply and Demand…..well, dream on. Maybe the ‘manipulators’ will get lucky, again, and no one will look too deeply into why some little clique should ever have the ability to effect the lives and livelihoods of so many.

Correct you are interceptor. Most industrial users have gas pickups now. Lower price to purchase, lower cost for fuel, lower cost to maintain.

It’s temporary and prices will be back to normal once those in charge have achieved whatever political goals they are pursuing.

Not often that Prince George gets the benefits of low rates for gas. We have been getting the shaft for many, many, years. Thanks to Costco and low oil prices we are reaping the benefits.

Hopefully the outcome of this is that in the future we will at the very least pay the same or less for gas than other areas.

On the seventh day she built a Costco fuel station in Prince George. Then she rested.

France is banning the sale of diesel cars to cut down on pollution seeing gas engines are adout matching diesel for mileage.

Oops, meant Paris.

“Last time oil was at $68 a barrel we where paying around 80 cents a litre.”

I can’t explain the complete difference, but, the carbon tax is 5 cents a litre higher than May 2009, but back then, oil was about C$80 a barrel, vs C$78.00. I guess factor in 5 years of inflation – i.e., manufacturing costs increases, and it might get us part of the way, but P val has a point. At this price, someone is still making more money than in 2009 when this last happened.

And still there is afew people fueling at esso on the hart, need the aero miles I guess ( 115.9 )

Gotta agree with interceptor and cougs. Lots of people driving diesels in PG with no real reason or need to do so.

maverick 1965: If you are a Costco member, fill in a comment card asking for diesel. If enough people ask for it I’m sure they will out it in.

Sorry, ‘put it in.’

Is Esso a front for something? Seriously, that Esso at 97 and Austin was 10 cents a liter more then the PetroCan across the street when I last drove by. How has it managed to stay in business? It’s been a long time since their prices were the same as their neighbours.

Never owned a gas engine that can compare to a diesel and my life style. Any gas engine that works like a diesel would be lucky to get 7 kms. to the litre, so I can’t see that as conserving anything. Plus I get 3 times the life compared to any gas engine truck I have ever owned.
You go buy your new Denali every 4 yrs at $80,000 a pop and I will enjoy my diesel for the next 15 yrs. which I paid $58,000 7 yrs ago.

Thanks Give more I will be filling one out every chance I get.

I too own a diesel. It was only a couple years ago diesel was cheaper than gas.
Once you’ve had a duramax power I couldn’t imagine going to gas. I think I’ll keep my fingers crossed than soon things will be back to the way it was.
It is after all easier to produce diesel than gas

So your truck, I mean the whole truck will last three three times longer than a gasser just because it’s a diesel, ya right. Why does a person have to buy a new Denali every 4 years, unless they want the latest and greatist? How much was a Denali 7 years ago?
My gasser pulls pulls my trailer just fine and is 15 years old, imagine that, oh gets better than 7 kms whatever that is.

Actually less diesel out of a barrel of oil than gasoline.

Same with the Esso at Domano and O’Grady Road. It is consistently higher than the Chevron and Canadian Tire stations across the street. The most bizarre thing is that I still see cars and trucks filling up there.

No matter how many useless Esso Extra points you get, it won’t make up for the difference in price — but people are so easily deceived into thinking otherwise.

As I’ve said in many threads on the subject, you can fill out all the suggestion cards you want, but Costco currently doesn’t sell diesel anywhere in Canada and they won’t make an exception here.

Rack price on diesel at petro can bulk plant Friday was 1.03 per litre. If I want to buy a diesel because it makes me feel good, I will buy a diesel, better yet if I want one every four years than I will buy a new one every four years…

I could’ve sworn that I read on here a short while ago that someone was posting that costco in Grand Prairie had diesel.
