AWAC Seeking Donations for Christmas
Prince George, B.C. – The Association Advocating for Women and Children (AWAC) is seeking donations to provide some cheer to vulnerable women and children during the holiday season.
Executive director Diane Nakamura says they’re looking for enough items to put together 60 Christmas gift bags.
“Hygiene items such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hairspray, toothpaste, toothbrush’s, scarves, mitts, socks, chocolate, and candy canes.”
She says it can be an extremely difficult time of year for most of their clients.
“These are chronically homeless women who suffer from mental health and addictions issues. Many of them are isolated by their families and communities and Christmas generally speaking at AWAC is quite a sad time of year.”
Nakamura says people can drop off their donations at the shelter at 144 George Street by December 19th or call her if they have any questions (250-613-9610).
