Prince George, B.C. – This year’s Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation’s Festival of Trees raised over $550,000.

It surpassed last year’s total of $430,000 to the delight of CEO Judy Neiser.

“No amount of words can express how thankful we are for the support we received for this event. We are so very grateful to our sponsors, donors and everyone who attends this event to ultimately strengthen healthcare in the north.”

The money raised will go towards the purchase of the Diagnostic SPECT CT Scanner at UHNBC.

No imagine if our taxable winter games dollars went to the hospital, or the HEROS program instead of a bunch of athlete venues, and people nobody will see again….. that would be a more appropriate treat.

My question is how many qualified people do we have to run and diagnose the results of this wonderful Diagnostic SPECT CT Scanner?

We seem to have all the money we want to purchase these wonderful pieces of equipment. But, do we have the trained technicians to run them properly?

Editor’s Note:
Melissa Verigan of the Spirit of the NOrth Healthcare Foundation has passed this on to me to be inserted with this comment:
“yes, there are qualified staff to run and diagnose the results from the scanner. Northern Health has 3 technologists trained to run the SPECT CT Scanner (In a department of 3 full time technologists) and 2 radiologists to diagnose.”
