Stabbing Incident Prompts Police to Call in the IIO
Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George RCMP has notified the Independent Investigations Office regarding an incident which took place downtown last night.
It involved three pedestrians and two RCMP officers in the area of 3rd Avenue and Dominion Street.
Police say when they attempted to arrest one of the pedestrians (who had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest) an officer was stabbed.
While taking the suspect into custody, police noticed the suspect had what appeared to be self-inflicted injuries to his neck.
Mounties seized a knife as evidence and both men (suspect and the officer ) were taken to hospital for treatment for their injuries.
