Record Breaking Warmth?
Prince George, B.C.- It looks as though Prince George is well on its way to breaking a temperature record.
The old record high temperature for this date set at the Airport, was plus 5.5 set in 1993, but Environment Canada meteorologist Doug Lundquist says there may be another marker buried in the older data that has to be checked.
At 9 this morning, the temperature hit a balmy 8.9 degrees.
The system that is bringing us the warm temps will also bring us rain, as that is the forecast for the next couple of days, with a high of 8 or 9 tomorrow and Thursday. it is also bringing plenty of wind, with gusts of up to 70 kms per hour.
Friday will see the area slip back into reality with a high of zero, and a slow slip into cooler temperatures over the weekend with a high on Sunday of minus 8.
Still, with the warm temps and the gusty winds, Lundquist says it’s possible most, if not all, of the snow that’s on the ground could be gone by the weekend.
