Cable Elected School Board Chair
Prince George, B.C. – Newly elected trustee Tony Cable has been chosen school board chair in School District 57.
He beat out incumbent trustee and former vice-chair Tim Bennett for the position.
Cable, a retired principal and vice-principal with over 3 decades of experience in the district, said he was “humbled” by the vote.
He also took exception to the label rookie (see story here) and said he believed his experience in the district and with volunteer organizations would serve him well in the job.
Brenda Hooker was elected vice-chairperson over Trish Bella.
Former chair Sharel Warrington was chosen BCSTA provincial councillor (unopposed) and Bruce Wiebe was chosen BCPSEA representative (unopposed).
Aside from the elections the meeting was mostly a ceremonial affair with Judge Michael A. Gray administrating the oaths of office.
