And The Winner Is….

Prince George, B.C. – Todd Doherty has been selected to be the Conservative candidate for the federal riding of Cariboo-Prince George.
Doherty won the nomination solidly, taking it on the first ballot.
There were 2,000 votes cast, and it is estimated that represents about 80% of those who hold memberships in the riding.
In his acceptance speech, Doherty thanked the other two candidates, Shari Green and Nick Fedorkiw.
Although the ballot count will not be released, it is generally thought that Nick Fedorkiw ran second and Shari Green ran third.

What was that song? Oh Happy Days….
now lets hope Todd has the gumption to speak for all of his constituents, not just business and the 1%. I hope his strings aren’t pulled by the PMO
Ding dong, the wicked witch is dead! Woohoo!
Good bye Shari. I am happy to see that “your record” did in fact speak for itself. We won’t have go see your for a long time.
Thankfully Shari Green did not win. That is a fairly substatial turnout 80%. It would be interesting to know the vote break down ancho voted merely to vote against Green.
Oops should read ” break down and who voted”
Don’t count your chickens, they don’t give up that easily.
Todd now if you would fire Camron Stoltz you would do the conservative members proud.
An early Christmas present by getting rid of the green grinch. Shari who? Lol.
Agreed happy13, from what I understand, Stoltz and the entire group on that executive board were all planted pigeons from the get go. TJ should get a position on this board, due to the hand he was dealt. He would also be a plus to have as an active participant in one way or another in our riding.
Congratulations to Stephen Harper for winning Caribou-Prince George!
this almost makes up for the Civic election
Condolences to Stephen Harper for loosing Caribou-Prince George
I voted tonight and not for Green, but this vitriol against her is over the top. It’s now become absurd and childish.
Dow, she’s earned this reception.
Very happy to see her political career die tonight. Our region finally had our say in how we felt about her past performance.
Congratulations to Todd. He was most humble in his acceptance and believe he will work hard to represent all people in his riding. Todd was gracious in thanking Nick and Shari. A bit of grace would be a good lesson for us all. Nick was second and is a fine young man who worked very hard for the votes he earned. Believe voter demographic was older so favored Todd. He also thanked TJ for the votes he brought over. As for Shari, no comment needed as momma said, if you can’t say something nice, don’t say nothing at all.
Truth is that Sherry was never much of a politician. She was a horrible communicator and failed to appreciate that politics involves compromise. She had no sweetness. But the hatred heaped upon her here says more about the meanness of the Conservatives in PG than it does about Green. Ya’ll deserve each other.
Stealth – there are many not involved in the voting process, not conservatives that heaped negative commentary towards Mrs. Green. To generalize that it is somehow associated to Conservative party members only is quite narrow minded. Perhaps Mrs. Green can come run for your party and yes, Ya’ll deserve each other.
I wonder if we will have more of the same. Seems very odd the results will not be released to media… how is that a democratic process… vote, but never verify?
In the end it comes down to who is the better puppet for the puppet masters to be a modern day neoconservative.
stealthmariner: I don’t think its hatred as much as an expression of giddy relief. Maybe because of who was backing her, she thought she had it in the bag but people relied on their memory of what she did as mayor and didn’t want any more of it.
stealthmariner. Its a bit of a jump to suggest that all the mean spirited comments being made here come from Conservatives. How did you arrive at that conclusion. Are you suggesting that Liberals and NDP’ers don’t make comments.
I suggest to you that some of the people making comments have never voted Conservative in their life.
The real question is. Who was in charge of Sherri’s campaign?? My sense is that she got a lot of bad advice. I’m happy with the outcome, however she lost partly because of the way they ran their campaign,.
Todd now if you would fire Camron Stoltz you would do the conservative members proud.

Stolz could take the high road and resign. Fade back into comic book oblivion.
I’ve never voted conservative in my life, but am now a card carrying member for the sole purpose of ousting Shari. Todd’s a good man, and its unfortunate, but Harper needs to go.
axman. Stoltz is not known for taking the high road. He is way to arrogant to do that. He did try and run for council when he should of resigned. Shari used the Prince George tax dollars to run her ambitions to become our MP. Camron does not feel paying his taxes is a priority when he can have developments companies and toy stores. Both Cam and Shari think they are above the people that voted them in. mmm the outcome of both the civic and nomination elections prove this.
Congratulations Todd!! Hopefully people within the community will look to a future of working together, rather than saying silly remarks. We have had a divided community for the last 2 elections, now it is time to put it behind us and pull together and start moving forward.
Best of luck to the other candidates in their futures.
Most citizens pleased that Shari and the former Cougars group have new job options.
do you people really want a guy behind a Steven Harper sign to represent our town? I would rather have Green behind that sign less con votes better Canada
Brilliant decision PG. Really it was an anyone but Shari vote for just cause after 3 years of being a poor representative for what the citizens of PG wanted for their community. I am not a Harper supporter in any capacity, but based on how PG has voted in recent federal elections, this will likely be the new MP. Did the Green machine not appreciate how truly unpopular she was or did they really think she could win over a dissatisfied community. Curious.
As Todd says Together we can be stronger…. together we can make a difference… I felt a few not even a handful of Nick’s supporters were nasty during this campaign, and it was nothing to do with Nick. Just remember when people make accusations about someone they better have lots of evidence to back up their accusations or otherwise this could be called harrassment and one can be charged. Congratulations Todd. And I wish the best for Nick and Shari!
Somehow im pleased with the outcome, congrats to the new hopefulls.
“but Harper needs to go.”
To be replaced by who? A spoiled rich kid who’s never worked a day in his life?
