The Man The Tories Turned Aside Played A Large Role In Nomination Outcome
Prince George, B.C. – In the end, it was the man the Conservative party had turned aside, who in large measure decided who the candidate in the Cariboo- Prince George riding would be.
T.J Grewal, was stripped of his chance to run for the nomination when it was discovered that he needed one more week in order to be eligible for the nomination. The party was asked to waive the one week, given that Grewal had been on the executive of the Party in previous years, but they failed to grant the wish.
Grewal felt that the local executive of the party along with the federal office had turned him away.
Grewal then rallied his troops, which included a large contingent of the Indo Canadian community, and threw his support behind Todd Doherty.
Grewal, who is extremely popular in the region, was rumored to be responsible for upwards of 1200 memberships.
Saturday night he said “The people have spoken , they knew what had happened in the city , and they set about to fix that. Today we are happy to send a candidate who will not only listen but will bring the people of the community back together, I am glad I was a part of this day”.

Nice piece, Ben. Had TJ not been prevented from running it might have been a different result. It’s quite possible that with four candidates, TJ’s count in the first ballot would have been less than the other three combined , and after three ballots, TJ could have lost out to either Todd, Nick or Shari, well, maybe not Shari. Keeping TJ out was not a good strategy. But, I guess we’ll never know……
TJ stood behind Todd, Koodos to TJ . He did the right thing considering what happened to him. Thank you TJ at this critical time. Todd Doherty, together we can be stronger…. together we can make a difference!!!
