Rocky Mountain Rangers Under New Command
Prince George, B.C. – There has been a change of command within the Rocky Mountain Rangers Primary Reserve regiment.
At a Change of Command parade ceremony Saturday morning at the Meadow Armoury in Prince George, home of the regiment’s Bravo Company, the command was officially handed from Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Tyler to incoming Lieutenant Colonel N.G.J. Dionne. Lt. Col. Tyler, who assumed command of the Rocky Mountain Rangers in 2011, will be retiring from the military next year.
Lt. Col. Dionne has served in the Canadian Armed forces for 36 years and has had deployments to several locations including Iraq and Haiti. The Rocky Mountain Rangers are the lone reserve infantry regiment in the B.C. interior, with Bravo Company located in Prince George and Alfa Company headquartered in Kamloops. They originated in Nelson in 1908. The Rangers belong to the 3rd Canadian Division’s 39 Canadian Brigade Group.

Lt. Col. Dionne, served 36 years in the armed forces, so he will be ready for retirement pretty soon. I thought most military people retired after 20 years.
I wonder how they are doing with their recruitment. Don’t see them around much anymore, so maybe they have a platoon. Long term plan is to get to company size, between 70 and 120 soldiers.
Mandatory retirement age is 60. A person could potentially spend up to 43 years in the military.
