Games to Bring Road Closures and Parking Restrictions
Prince George, B.C. – The Canada Winter Games will mean there will be road closures and parking restrictions in the downtown of Prince George.
Downtown has been designated the “Athletes Village” for the Games as well as being the core for cultural events. In order to promote safe pedestrian traffic, there will be some roads closed.
In the map at right, yellow marks sections of roadways that will closed, orange marks parking restricted areas, and the blue blocks are areas that will be used by the Canada Winter Games.
The closures and restrictions are necessary to allow for free flow of pedestrian traffic between venues and events during the Games.
According to a Staff report presented to City Council, the parking restrictions are not in front of any store fronts, and the Canada Winter Games people will be looking after the “Traffic Management Plan” including looking after the barricades and signage. The City will provide road closure equipment as needed.

Well, a lot of people are trying to run away from town. I am going to have a mini holiday in town. embrace the activities and have fun.
I had no intentions of going downtown anyways so they can close down the whole area as far as I am concerned.
And with law enforcemnet wanttobe, volunteers directing traffic…good place to avoid at all costs.
Stay tuned I am sure a lot more good news will develope concerning the winter games.
Racer…I wouldn’t expect any less..I mean the fact we are hosting the games has been a big huge stick in your craw since day one!
I for one am going to go out of my way to enjoy the once in a lifetime opportunity to be part of a NATIONAL event that will focus on everything that is good and positive about our city, our region and our nation!
Let’s go PG show the Nation what we are really all about!
I came here just knowing I’d see bcracer griping…
Thank you for saving me some typing Nytehawwk – what you said X2!
Word of advice for you bcracer.
Successful people build each other up. Motivate inspire and push each other to be better.
Unsuccessful people just hate blame and complain.
lets see how many of you are so happy when the bills arrive…..
I personally dont care if they happen or not…
either way makes absolutley no differnce in my life…
If you think we are not going to end up with a big bill … smile on…I think it will be short lived…
and since when are your opinions and concerns any greater than anyone elses?
argue the point and stop the personal attacks…
if you are capable.
We will see who is bitching when our taxes skyrocket in 2016 and also this town is still an embarrassment.
Only certain people in the business world are going to benefit financially from these games via a transfer of tax dollars into their bank accounts.
