Prince George, B.C. – The provincial government has awarded a $26,000 grant to the Prince George Recycling and Environment Action Planning Society (REAPS).

“It comes at a much needed time because it helps to alleviate some of the pressures that we have on our outreach programs,” says executive director Terri McClymont.20141119_133438-1

“So it helps to pay for our school programs and our community outreach programs. So whether it’s materials or whether it’s mileage. It also helps to pay for some salaries as well.”

The money was provided through the government’s Community Gaming Grant Program that allows non-profit organizations apply for provincial gaming revenues.

“For the past 25 years, REAPS has done a great job of helping to increase public awareness about environmental practices like recycling and composting,” says Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond.

“In schools, workshops, and throughout our community REAPS is making a difference.”
