Prince George, B.C. – It was a poor start to winter for the driver of this vehicle.

The single vehicle crash occurred at around 3:00 p.m. today at the corner of North Nechako Road and Highway 97 North.

Police say the driver lost control of the car while exiting off to North Nechako from the highway, took out two signs and a traffic control light, then fled on foot before being caught by police near Pacific Western Brewing a short time later.

No serious injuries were reported and no word yet on any possible charges the driver may be facing.

That lamppost napping on the road must have really caught the driver by surprise.

The driver may have consumed brewery products in excess.

Definitely a little off roading going on…
not for me to try and pick fault or blame…
that is the police officers job…
but looks like it was not a pleasant ride.

Must have been flying to do a four wheel skid for that long on turf. Good thing it was winter. If not, his tires may have caught and they could have flipped the car.

I would speculate the cops were chasing him already to be there soon enough to catch him by the brewery.

But then again…..Timmys isn’t too far away from there.

today, sunday 3pm North Nechako and John Hart bridge

chevy in picture travels northbound hwy 97 crossing Nechako river, takes exit off to north nechako at high rate of speed, looses control. takes out two signs and a traffic control light

driver flees running westbound toward brewery, called in by witnesses

police pursue and catch driver apparently

police run plates, front and back do not match and are expired

police find ammunition inside vehicle so are on watch for firearm

more to story from RCMP I expect

all facts heard from police radio, police were not pursuing vehicle

Well I figured there had to be a reason for the driver to run.
They may discover a firearm hidden away between the crash site and where they picked him up.
metalman.

had a few tickets Huh?

darn cops how dare they…..

we are all assuming…. however most of these assumptions are likely correct. Check the distance for drugs and guns.

I know, I know he didn’t, “keep left except to pass”
Cheers

“all facts heard from police radio, police were not pursuing vehicle”

There is a dash cam video out there showing the police pursuit.

Hey retired 02 here is a video the ‘keep right except to pass’ group can use to show why the rule should be enforced. ( http://www.theprovince.com/news/fraser-valley/Speeding+Lamborghini+spins+crashes+Surrey+highway/10673986/story.html ). ☻

Except words and actions off the scanner are never to be published therefore we will not hear the full story on this. That video clearly shows the car and a few seconds later the North District RCMP following from behind.

Here is the video:
