Prince George, B.C. – A late push will be needed in order for the Prince George Salvation Army to reach its kettle campaign target of $250,000 this year.
“Up until the end of day Saturday we’re at $187,140,” says business coordinator Bill Glasgow.
“I know that Prince George always comes through in the last minute so we’re hoping we can count on PG’s generosity one more time.”
The deadline to donate is 2:00 p.m. Christmas Eve and all proceeds will fund the Salvation Army’s programming for 2015.
Last year’s kettle campaign raised $198,000.

This is one very active local charity who you can have confidence in, that your donation is not going to fund the excessive salaries of the heads as in most other charities. The funds they receive go to help local people in need.
It is a very much needed and appreciated service to Prince George.
Exactly ‘give more’. No excuses. Make an effort and get out there and donate!
Given them my loose change so far about four times. Remember there are people out there that are in bad shape. Not by choice, but by misfortune.
It is the ONLY religious outfit that I give anything to. You’ve got a working TV, furniture etc that you don’t NEED, drop it off, they’re between Lyon and Nicholson on 18th, was there last week. The lady at Superstore had a great big smile on her face today, couldn’t help but donate. They are a very special bunch of folks, that Salvation Army Crew, and the only group I know that, when they say the money stays in PG, I believe them. Some folks have hard times, and to brighten their star, ahhh,
you just gotta love it.
We are very fortunate to live where we live. There are those who know no other lifestyle. We are blessed, we are generous, we extend grace to the less fortunate as we celebrate this Christmas season with family and friends.
Think of those who do not have family and friends this Christmas season. Think of who you can help with that unused Winter Jacket. That pair of gloves you don’t wear. That surplus hat or touque you never wear. Or those extra pair of boots that just don’t seem to fit right. Give them away to someone in need. Not the worn out stuff you might cast in the garbage, but that gift that would be appreciated still hanging in your closet.
How many lives can you touch this Christmas? I challenge you. The blessing is in the giving more than the receiving.
