Monday, December 29, 2014 @ 1:08 PM

Quesnel, B.C.- A Williams Lake man is  in custody and facing a string of charges following an incident last evening in Quesnel.

According to  Quesnel RCMP,   they had received calls about a red pick up truck being driven erratically .  The vehicle was heading northbound on  highway 97.

An officer spotted the suspect vehicle on Highway 97 in Quesnel. The officer  turned on the  emergency lights on his marked police  vehicle,  the suspect truck slowed and appeared to be  coming to a stop on Legion Drive but at the last minute turned right on to McLean Street and  sped off.

The officer is said to have radioed in the events, pulled over and turned off his  emergency lights.  He then watched as the suspect vehicle failed to stop for a stop sign at McLean and  Carson Avenue and was struck by another vehicle  coming through that intersection.

The suspect vehicle failed to stop after the collision which left  four people with minor injuries.

The suspect was located minutes later, not far from the abandoned  pick up  truck.   He was taken into custody without incident.  The pick up truck was confirmed to have been stolen in Williams Lake earlier in the day.

Numerous charges will be recommended including possession of stolen property, fail to remain at the scene of an accident, and flight from police.
