Williams Lake Man Faces String of Charges
Quesnel, B.C.- A Williams Lake man is in custody and facing a string of charges following an incident last evening in Quesnel.
According to Quesnel RCMP, they had received calls about a red pick up truck being driven erratically . The vehicle was heading northbound on highway 97.
An officer spotted the suspect vehicle on Highway 97 in Quesnel. The officer turned on the emergency lights on his marked police vehicle, the suspect truck slowed and appeared to be coming to a stop on Legion Drive but at the last minute turned right on to McLean Street and sped off.
The officer is said to have radioed in the events, pulled over and turned off his emergency lights. He then watched as the suspect vehicle failed to stop for a stop sign at McLean and Carson Avenue and was struck by another vehicle coming through that intersection.
The suspect vehicle failed to stop after the collision which left four people with minor injuries.
The suspect was located minutes later, not far from the abandoned pick up truck. He was taken into custody without incident. The pick up truck was confirmed to have been stolen in Williams Lake earlier in the day.
Numerous charges will be recommended including possession of stolen property, fail to remain at the scene of an accident, and flight from police.
