Weather Challenges Won’t Sideline Ski Races
Prince George, B.C. – The Caledonia Nordic Ski Club is getting set to host the 2014 Teck BC Cup #1 this weekend.
It all starts at 9 a.m. this morning at the Otway Nordic Centre with the Home Hardware Sprint Race qualification round and head-to-head heats to follow at 11:30 a.m.
Tomorrow the RHB Schmitz de Grace Free Technique interval starts at 10:00 a.m. and is expected to run until 12:30 p.m.
Poor weather, including a lack of snow and low temperatures, had threatened to cancel the events.
Over 200 athletes have registered to participate in the races which will help determine individual BC Cup aggregate winners.
These races are one third of the BC Cup Series with Teck Cup #2 scheduled for Revelstoke the weekend of January 24th and 25th and the Teck BC Championships scheduled for Kelowna in February.
The BC Cup is the premier cross country ski race in B.C. encouraging cross country skiing for families of all age groups and skill levels.
