Travel Advisory On 16 West
Thursday, January 1, 2015 @ 3:59 PM
Prince George, B.C.- There is a travel advisory for Highway 16 west between Bednesti and Priestly Hill.
At right, reflection of headlights indicates how polished the highway is at Bednesti.

Freezing rain has made the highway extremely slick. Travel is not recommended unless absolutely necessary.
One driver contacted 250News to say the road is smoother than an ice rink, and even though he has chained up his truck and was driving very slowly, he was still challenged to keep his rig from sliding sideways. The conditions bad enough that he has parked his vehicle and is not moving an inch further.

Gonna be dangerous in town too. Think a sliver thaw is coming and that’s definitely not fun for those with above ground power lines.
Tow truck now stuck and lots in the ditch. The towing company etc. will not send anyone else out. Wondering what it takes to get the road closed?
SMART fella pulling over until road conditions improve. I remember asking another long time senior driver how he handles the freezing rain and his sound words of advise still ring true to this day. WAIT until it snows or the sand truck comes by.
People are not exactly the brightest lights when it comes to freezing rain and are always continually caught off guard when they end up in the ditch then complain about highways not doing their job when in reality it was the person behind the wheel who is at fault. Wish more people were like that truck driver who obviously used common sense kudos to him.
The road was quite a mess from McBride to P.G. on our trip from Edmonton yesterday but evergone drove to the conditions and we got home safe
Oops ‘everyone’
