Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George Airport had about five to eight centimetres of snow overnight.

And Environment Canada meteorologist Lisa Coldwells expects more to fall as the day goes on.

“There is a winter storm warning in effect right now and we’re expecting about 10 centimetres more to fall today.”

But she says this week’s blast of snowy weather is expected to pass as soon as the snow stops falling tonight.

“We’re looking at much more stable conditions to move in. Typical January conditions, mainly cloudy skies, a chance of flurries off and on the rest of the week.”

She says it will include temperature’s hovering around minus seven, minus eight and overnight lows of minus ten through the rest of the week and into the weekend.

In the meantime Coldwells recommends residents only drive if absolutely necessary.

“If you can postpone your travel today that will be highly desirable. Or if you do need to go make sure you take all the necessary precautions.”

Donald: The main weather office isn’t at the airport, it’s at the corner of Massey and Ospika.

How do you fight a snowstorm? Head fake, rear naked choke, flurry to the solar plexus ;)

Be careful out there everyone, getting home safe beats getting halfway home really fast ;)

I don’t know where they measure at the airport but I live in Blackburn which is only a couple of kms. away and we got at least 15 cms. at our place.
