Quesnel, B.C. – This is a big evening In Quesnel as the community helps Illuminate the North with their Regional Community Torch Celebration leading up to the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George.

The event kicks off with a Torch Relay at 5pm featuring selected torchbearers from the central interior. It begins at the Quesnel Arts and Recreation Centre and makes its way through Quesnel to the Twin Arena, where there will be food and drinks, a free public skate and a performance by Indie rock band Bright City Heights.

A large delegation from Prince George led by 2015 Canada Winter Games CEO Stu Ballantyne drove to Quesnel today for tonight’s festivities, which will also include Canada Games alumni and representatives and plenty of activities.

The torch is due to arrive at the Twin Arenas at 7pm and the Regional Community Torch Celebration will be on. It all wraps up with a fireworks display put on by Starlight FX.
