Prince George, B.C. – For the third straight year the Prince George Crime Stopper Society has honoured the work of local police officers.

Constable Candace Slaunwhite, a member of the RCMP’s Drug Task Force, was chosen officer of the year.

“She has been instrumental in utilizing Crime Stopper tips to make arrests and get some of the bad guys off the street,” said Crime Stoppers president Jack Hooper.

“In one case, she has taken information received from Crime Stoppers and turned it into a search warrant and multiple arrests for drug trafficking related offences.”

Also recognized was “B” watch as general duty watch of the year (under the leadership of Staff Sergeant Marc Pelletier).

“B watch has been instrumental in using Crime Stopper tips to close cases, close files and make arrests,” said Hooper.

Superintendent Warren Brown thanked Crime Stoppers for the awards noting “it’s always good to have feel good stories about the police.”

He also thanked Constable Slaunwhite and “B” watch adding “it’s work ethic like this that keeps our communities and our families safe.”
