So sad . Just watched CC crying out to Bc folks across Canada to come home and build a better Bc . You need a heck of a lot more help than that cc . Ask andrew j. Weaver . He actually can count to ten . All that help from harper isn’t working out well , is it ?

No small wonder. Moved from Victoria in 2005, call Williams to do the move. Funny our goods were loaded into an Allied Van Lines trailer, and it was pulled by a United Van lines tractor and the invoice was from Williams Moving and Storage. Then there was a fair amount of transit damage done to our stuff. Just saying, proof is in the pudding.

My old friend Fred Williams and his brother, gotta be rolling over in their graves!

Really sucks for those people but it is no doubt why it happened.

Wanted an in city move, couple KM’s down the road. Cost was 2k to start. A local company did it for 400.

That’s how it goes when you try to hire the big boys to do the little boys work.

Andrew Weaver?

“That’s how it goes when you try to hire the big boys to do the little boys work.”

Look how well that mentality worked for them.

They priced themselves out of the market. Before 2008 you could get away with that somewhat. Not so much nowadays.

Love how none of the comments here are mentioning the union aspect of it all…. look at the rates they have to pay.

In steps another hater!

We used the local Williams company for our move out of Pg. We had an awesome moving team! The packing team was great, really professional and did a great job of packing us up. The movers were equally good. As for price, they came in with the best quote. I will say the Williams movers at our new locale did not measure up at all compared to the Prince George team. We had one item that was damaged and that was when the furniture was being unloaded. So sorry to hear of the bankruptcy for the Williams employees in Prince George who will be effected , we were impressed by their team.

Moving Companies over the years made a lot of money moving Executives for major industry, Government workers, and the RCMP, and I would suppose the Armed Forces.

Things have changed somewhat, and there are less people being transferred around, partly because of the cost.

Beth James the ex City Manager got $25000.00 for a moving allowance when she came to Prince George for |Vancouver/Victoria. The majority of that money would go to the Company that moved her, presuming she had a lot of furniture to move.

So its pretty pricey to move people with the big moving companies these days.

Dragonmaster, not sure I understand your comment, please elaborate!!

Gee, thats a crying shame Hart Guy.

I have no worries about them loosing their job did you not hear Chrispie Clark babble about all the jobs in BC , I am sure she will find them a spot a Timmies or Rotten Ronnies and maybe keep them home . Just joking it is sad to loose any job in BC at the rate things are moving under the Liberals .

Something better happen pretty soon. There are 2500 construction workers at the new alum plant in Kitimat that will be looking for work this year, when the job is completed.

So it’s the governments fault that Williams priced themselves out of the market?

Sounds to me like they had plenty of time to get out of the niche market that was their bread and butter for so long but, for whatever reason, decided not too. Piss poor management in my opinion.

Moving costs have diminished since 2008, the gov got tired of paying double the price
for moves, the big co are on a rotational system where they dictate the price when its their turn. It pretty much changed because the gov started giving their new employees so much to move themselves. The big co had to charge less and at the same time pay more for union wages. This causes financial disaster and huge job losses.

Yes seamut . Andrew J. Weaver B.C.s and Canada’s only sitting MLA nobel prize winning mathematician . One of the most qualified politicians that we have country wide . Lying is not one of his attributes .
