Record Breaking Year for Passenger Traffic at YXS

Monday, January 26, 2015 @ 10:57 AM

Prince George, B.C. – It looks like the sky’s the limit at YXS.

This as the Prince George Airport reports 2014 was another record breaking year for passenger traffic.

445,929 passengers passed through the gates in 2014, an increase of 4.5% over 2013.

“This is the third consecutive year we have broken the passenger traffic record which shows strong stable growth, ” says president and CEO John Gibson of the Prince George Airport Authority.

“In 2014 our airline partners added additional seats to existing routes, WestJet started non-stop daily service to Calgary and Central Mountain Air commenced flights to Vancouver in December. Travel associated with the 2015 Canada Winter Games can also be credited as a number of people attended sponsor summits and test events.”

The busiest month of the year was December with a 12% increase in travellers over the
same period in 2013. Other heavy travel months out of YXS included January, September
and October which saw increases between 7% and 9%.

The airport says 2015 is shaping up to be another busy year with the addition of Pacific Coastal Airline’s non-stop flight to Victoria and the Canada Winter Games next month.
