“I think it’s really important we have these events and recognize all the good work going on in our communities,” said Dr. Sandra Allison, chief medical health officer for Northern Health.
“Northern Health recognizes the strength of community development. That’s why we’ve designed the Imagine Grants to provide those opportunities for communities to find things that fit their needs.”
According to Northern Health the grants will help do many things including promote healthy lifestyles, community gardens, the promotion of physical activity and healthy living to low-income individuals, local food harvesting and you mentoring.
Mike Davis, director of marketing and communications for the Canada Winter Games was pleased to be on hand for today’s ceremony.
“Northern Health and the games, we really share a lot of partnerships and themes about healthy living and community living.”
14 communities received grants including Burns Lake, Fort Fraser, Fort St. James, Fraser lake, Granisle, Kwadacha, McBride, McLeod Lake, Prince George, Quesnel, Tsay Keh, Valemount, Vanderhoof, and Wells.
