Federal Budget Delay Impacting the Economy Says Cullen

Thursday, January 29, 2015 @ 11:16 AM

cullen1Prince George, B.C. – While the Federal Government is back in session for a spring sitting, there is still no sign of a Federal budget. Skeena Bulkley MP Nathan Cullen says the Federal Government’s delay in delivering a new federal budget is putting unnecessary pressures on other levels of government.

Cullen says the budget is not expected to be delivered for at least two more months “This is not good for businesses, it’s not good for the provinces who are putting their budgets together now and part of their budget is some compensation from the Federal Government”.

Cullen says the delay in delivering a budget is impacting the economy “It’s causing more uncertainty, ‘cause people don’t know what’s coming.”

Cullen says the Government is “making some claim about instability in the oil market, well it’s actually not that unstable, it’s just low.   It may be low two months from now, so you ask yourself what’s going to change? There’s always uncertainty, you don’t know what the price of any commodity is going to be a month or two months later.”

He says the problem is the Federal Government has put all of its eggs in the basket of one commodity, oil.

-On the flip side you dont release a budget in a volitile market because the uncertainty has the potential to skew the numbers..You dont want to set a goal and have the post moved or game changed and then suffer consequneces out of your control. Cullen used to be a man of prinicpals now he is just another talking head.. There is alot of uncertainty in everything especially in a bear market.. What anyone who has any skin in the game does is try to recognize the bottom or stabilizaton of a bear market then plan accordingly.

Well, who is Cullen speaking for? Is he speaking for all those that may be in his corner looking for opportunities for fleecing our good government out of a few more hundred thousand dollar bills?
Good on you Harper, stay on track and keep the economy going!

That’s a laugh n1 . The reason harper can’t face the music that he has written is the reality that we don’t have a few hundred thousand dollars . The tides gone out and we can all see who’s been swimming naked . By this time next year all provinces and territories will be in the red . For every dollar canadians earn we owe $1.63 . And we have the biggest government with the biggest deficit in our history . The harper government is the biggest disaster canada has ever had . If you think Stevie can get us out of this mess you are dreaming . He’s out of options and we are heading into deflation . Getting poloz to lower the interest to .75 is a sign of how desperate he is . It didn’t work in Japan , where they actually make stuff . It ain’t gonna work here . By the time the sheeple figure out how inept he was he will be gone to some corp. board . we’ll be holding a bag full of debt and we won’t recognize canada ,just like he said . Maybe he’s hiding the budget in his bullet proof closet . Coward is afraid to face the music .

Harper does what he wants when he wants. He isn’t in touch with reality. Wasting $7,000,000 on false advertising about marijuana, wasting $700,000 fighting veterans after cutting their benefits, I mean they only put their lives on the line for our country…least they deserve is to be abused by Harper and cronies.

Ataloss. For every dollar they earn Canadians owe $1.63. This would have nothing to do with the National debt, more likely it is about the amount debt owed by individuals,. So are you saying that Harper is responsible for your spending and borrowing habits????

The only people who are in favour of marijuana, are those who smoke it. Hmmmmmmm. Just what we need a bunch of pot heads to add to the impaired drivers, and distracted drivers already on our roads.

On the one hand we want the Government to cut costs, and when they do, we bitch and bellyache.

Harper is respectively requesting that those who disagree with him not to vote for him. That way you can express yourselves at the polls. OH, we already did that.

Yes harper is directly responsible for our really bad economic situation . He did it by taking the risk to banks from mortgage debt by taking monsterous size debt off the books of the banks and putting it into cmhc ( the tax payers ) . Then he brought in zero down 40 year amortizations , then 35 , 30 . This had the effect they wanted , inflated housing prices . Now we have a whole generation that are debt slaves . The banks will give anybody with a pulse a mortgage because they have no risk . The risk is all ours through the cmhc . The real estate gas bag is starting to leak like a sieve . And the gas bag in Ottawa is out of options . If you want to read the truth about what’s going on in canada . Greaterfool.ca you’ll not get it from msm . As for the weed thingy . Only the drug dealers will be voting for harper . Hes definitely their guy in ottawa .

Ataloss. Have you tried to get a mortgage lately???

I’m in favour of legalizing marijuana and I’ve never touched it. That said, I’m also in favour of keeping whisky legal even though I don’t drink it.

Palopu, I am in favor of legalizing pot for a few reasons.. Btw I haven’t oartook in about 25 yrs.. So you are wrong.

Reason 1, taxes if we can make what the states that have legalized it do we would be in better situatin financially.

Reason 2 think of how much time and money is wasted in police, courts and jails for pot. It’s another huge money saving

Reason 3 not addictive

Reason 4 doesn’t cause domestic abuse ( alcohol certainly does )

Reason 5 people who are stoned on pot are happy, no violent mood swings.

Reason 6 no matter how much you smoke you don’t get any higher, not like alcohol where you get drunker till you pass out or puke or both.

Reason 7 no blackouts.

There are always impaired people on the road, from alcohol. Pot, other illegal drugs, prescription drugs etc. Nothing will change. I just hope they have a good way to find out if you are stoned when pulled over. If you get drunk at night and drive in early morning you are more than likely over the limit. If you get stoned at night you are sober in morning.

@palopu I haven’t had a mortgage for over ten years but I’ve bought a few pieces of re in that time . Being into some thing like real and financial assets raises ones learning curve in one heck big way in a hurry or you get demolished . You don’t have to have a disease to understand it but if you get one you’ll learn all about it real quick .

“bear market”…..sounds Russian.

“The delay in delivering a budget is impacting the economy “It’s causing more uncertainty, ‘cause people don’t know what’s coming.”

With all this uncertainty “Digitus Impudicus” it is warming to know god still loves you even though you shun his “holy spirit”. Mass starts at 9:30 your well come to Digitus Impudicus.

Sorry, welcome to come Digitus Impudicus

You better buy some better stuff PVal because the pot your talking about is crap!

Not addictive says who and tell that to the people who have to light up before breakfast and 11 more times after that during the day!

Doesn’t cause domestic abuse! Never seen anyone fight over that last roach eh?

So what your saying is one toke is the same as smoking a whole pound?

No blackouts? LMFAO! Or should I BONG!

Sober people can spot stoned people a mile away!

Oh by the way impaired driving covers all drugs not just alcohol.

Now how about that sub 80 cent loonie!!!

Harper is to busy spending taxpayers money fighting vets, who fought for this country than to care about the failing economy of Canada.

NoWay, just because people wake and bake doesn’t mean it’s addictive. Means they are pot heads.

Fight over the last roach, guessing your trying to be funny..trying but failed

You can only get so stoned ..smoke one or ten joints..you end up just wasting it.

Blackouts may happen but that’s from people mixing drugs, usually the drug called alcohol.

Some people can tell, some can’t.

We do agree on impairment, should also includes using cell phones while driving.

Oh maverick. You see, one of (many I’m sure) differences between you and I is, if I were in your shoes and was brainwashed by a religious cult….I wouldn’t advertise it. So which cult receives your money ?

So when a pothead runs out and can’t function until he gets his weed is he still a pothead or an addict? All they can think about is getting more and will go out of their way to get it. They can’t stop PVal and have no problem getting stoned and driving with and without kids in the car. So I guess people that get up in the morning and crack open the vodka are vodka heads?

Yes fighting over a roach! Seen it! Also have seen people hiding their last joint from their partner! Sneaking off alone to smoke their last joint. Showing up for work smelling like they ran over a skunk! I guess that’s your definition of a pothead. I have a different point of view.

Maybe so on mixing pot and alcohol but I’ve seen different.

Pot addiction might be rare but there are still cases of addiction just like some folks can be heavy drinkers but not be alcoholics some peoPoe need therapy to kick their pot addition.

How come socialists like Cullen never call for a re-distribution of the National Debt? Surely it must be obvious to them that if the country is so much the poorer by the amount of the National Debt that it owes, then the holders of that debt must be so much the richer. Now I don’t know how much in the way of government bonds and other debt instruments the average Canadian who puts his savings into such things likely has, but I would wager that taken collectively in total, it wouldn’t be very much relative to the size of the National Debt itself. So if we left the holdings of all those who’ve ‘earned’ the money they’ve invested this way strictly alone, who holds the much larger balance? And just where did they get the money from to purchase it?

Holders of debt are foreigners, mostly Chinese.

Pot is less harmful and less addictive than everyday substances like salt, caffeine and sugar. It should be taxed and regulated because the costs of prohibition like enforcement, trials and jails are massively expensive. Most pot smokers are productive, tax paying individuals and not the social degenerates NoWay portrays.

I’ve known pot smokers who smoked occasionally, and some who couldn’t get through the day without it, claiming they could stop any time. Sounds familiar.

Harper knew oil was down and not coming back for some time… so the interest rate cut lowers the value of the Canadian dollar thereby increasing the Canadian dollars one receives for oil payments in American dollars.

An oil company operating in Canada with a 20% Subsidy in the value of the currency is much more likely to weather the down cycle of $40 oil.

On the other hand lowering the interest rate has the stated design of encouraging more debt spending inflating the housing market further… but more sinister than that is it cripples the pensioners because they essentially get nothing for a return on bonds and secure investments, thereby forcing pensioners into the stock market at great risk at a time when it is a ponzi scheme at near record levels of valuation.

So anyone looking to get a good return on secure investments gets a kick in the teeth with lower interest rates. With the US Fed announcing they intend to go in the opposite direction it becomes more obvious that the Canadian rate cut was political with one industry in mind.

Harper has no problem with foreign corporations pulling jobs out of Canada claiming its only the market, but the first sign the markets could go against anything he has a stake in and he is prorogating parliament, pumping out record deficits, taking all the risk off the banks balance sheets and putting it on tax payers, dropping the interest rates further to new record lows, sliding things through on an omnibus bill, fixing the Senate (and using them for partisan campaigning), or cheating in elections. Harper just can’t help himself when it comes to bending the rules for his personal exception, but demands austerity and accountability from everyone else. Add to that he is a chicken hawk and what is left to be desired as any kind of moral authority.

IMHO

.

all the pot talk.mmm. LEGALIZE it! Criminalize booze. how many brawls, wife and kid beatings take place after smoking dope? haha. and i remember in high school when i smoked, i drove REAL careful. (mind you, at 20 miles an hour).
seriously though. legalize, control (like booze), tax and educate sensibly. just legalizing would take a huge amount of criminal activity off the street.

Legalize it all and let Darwin do its thing!
