Snow Clearing Crews Busy in Prince George
Prince George, B.C. – Crews with the City of Prince George are busy tackling the chore of clearing streets covered by Friday’s snowfall, as Environment Canada forecasts more snow on the way tomorrow.
City crews worked through the night clearing priority one and priority two routes beginning in the downtown area. They will continue clearing those routes during the day shift today and overnight before moving into residential areas tomorrow.
Salting, sanding, and sidewalk operations will continue on routes around the city.
Residents are reminded to drive to conditions and of the parking restrictions during snow and ice operations. For a complete list of parking restrictions, visit: www.princegeorge.ca/snow.
Meantime Environment Canada calls for another 5 to 10 centimetres of snow to fall in the Prince George area on Sunday, further snowfall on Monday, a break from precipitation Tuesday and Wednesday and then more snow Thursday and Friday of next week.

Murphy’s Law in progress. Plowed the street two days ago, and it snows,
who woulda thunk? Glad they got rid of all the ice before it snowed.
Surprised there would be any ice left after 2 weeks of above normal temperatures? I guess salting 10 cm of snow without plowing it first wouldn’t be part of the problem, would it?
Just got back from a trip downtown, to Costco and home. OMG, slow down, folks. Saw 4 young fellas climbing out of a car they just ‘ditched’ by superstore. Not nice driving, even on the main routes.
I was all over town today and while there were definitely slippery sections and intersections were entertaining overall I found the roads to be in decent condition. Yes I drive a truck and yes it is 4 wheel drive but I was in two wheel drive all day I saw nothing wrong with the roads however the same cannot be said for many of the drivers out there. Way too many people were driving beyond their abilities and then blaming the city or YRB for the bad road conditions.
If you can’t learn to drive to road conditions maybe you should rethink about driving on the roads.
just walked back from 7/11 on queensway – 17th avenue is a glossy sheet of ice – but it is plowed. now for the sand/salt please
I drive a 4X4 and a commercial vehicle. Getting around in my 4X4 is awesome. Getting around in my commercial vehicle is another story. Many times it’s other commercial vehicles that are causing a problem on our highways! Like the empty logger that had to pass me at the roller coasters on a double solid east of Vanderhoof. Those HID headlights are awesome, unless you are pointing them at other drivers. I think I’ll get some! If Log truckers can have them, then my pickup is good to go!
“Way too many people were driving beyond their abilities and then blaming the city or YRB for the bad road conditions.” .. just curious how you would know other drivers abilities and if they in fact started blaming the city or YRB for the road conditions? But to the road conditions, can’t speak to downtown, but I do wonder why a city plow truck came down our street today and plowed one path down the street around the cul’d’sac, putting a big furrow of frozen snow in front of everyones’ driveway, and then drove away without finishing the job. Seems it would have been better to just leave it alone until there was the equipment to do it properly.
Huh? Now Way! LMAO!

Maybe I’m just getting old and cranky but I can’t help but think that there are a lot more “bad” commercial drivers on the roads these days then there was 10 years ago. I watch some of these logging truck drivers going down the Hart on a daily basis and I’m surprised they haven’t killed anybody.
Yep, many a bad driver out there. It doesn’t matter what you drive. If you’re incompetent, you’re incompetent! Don’t you just love those HID head lights the govt allows on our hwy’s?
When is your physical for your class 1 due? You should have your eyes checked. I’ve never seen anyone bothered by light so much while driving. (Headlights, fog lights, business yard lights etc).
Are you guys talking about after market HID kits, or the ones that are installed stock on certain vehicles? For what it’s worth, I’ve personally never been bothered by the latter. In fact, I find them less bothersome than normal headlights.
the lights that glow blue or purple are extremely hard on the eyes – especially in dark corners. and what about those travel trailers with the huge window on the back? when one is driving behind one at night the reflection of one’s headlights coming right back in one’s face is terribly dangerous – wonder whose bright idea that was?
Update: Furrow still at the end of everyones’ driveway, really good and frozen now, so obviously wasn’t done in anticipation of more equipment arriving during the night to complete the job. Now we are supposed to get another 10 cm at least by tomorrow so obviously we won’t see any equipment here for at least a week as our garbage day was Friday.
” I watch some of these logging truck drivers going down the Hart on a daily basis and I’m surprised they haven’t killed anybody.” .. exactly. Some of them think they are driving a vehicle that can stop on a dime. I try to distance myself from them if I can because I know it is just a matter of time when one of them loses control and then you will see the carnage.
