Valemount, B.C.-A collision on Highway 5  has claimed the live of a  Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement Officer.

The crash occurred on Highway 5 about 10kms north of Valemount near  Jackman Flats at about 11:30 last night.

A CVSE pick up and  commercial transport truck collided, the CVSE officer  was pronounced dead at the scene. The 56 year old driver of the commercial transport truck was treated at the scene.

A traffic reconstructionist was sent to the scene to assist in the investigation.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation at this time and the name of the deceased is not being released.

The highway was closed through this area, but has since  reopened.
