UNBC Launches Alumni Survey

Tuesday, February 3, 2015 @ 4:21 PM

Prince George, B.C. – For the first time ever, UNBC is surveying its alumni.

“It will seek to gather information about the experiences they had while they were at UNBC and what their perception is of their ongoing relationship with the university,” says alumni association president Andrew Seabrook.

“Also how they feel they can be better connected and what types of benefits and services as alumni they might like to see.”

Over 11,000 alumni are eligible to participate and he’s expecting plenty of feedback.

“We’re very confident that we should get a very good number of people completing the survey. A strong enough pool of individuals to kind of base decisions moving forward on. I think we’ll have a lot of people complete it and am really looking forward to what they have to say.”

He also notes the survey was timed to coincide with the school’s 25 year anniversary.

“I think it’s a great time with the 25th anniversary for us to look forward to the next 25 years and to try and bring some of that data together in order to see how we can improve things and provide benefits and services to them in the future.”

Good on Andrew and the alumni association for conducting this survey. My comment is NOT addressed to them. Mr. Seabrook made a valuable contribution to the UNBC and PG community while he was a student and it is encouraging to see that he continues to act in a leadership role.

However, it is a sad comment on the former UNBC leadership that it has taken 25 years before someone has got around to asking grads for their feedback. Can’t imagine any organization waiting for 25 years to survey their customers. This goes along way for explaining some of the disconnect between the university and the community over the years.

This comment is, of course, predicated on the accuracy of the lead line in the article. Some one in the loop, jump in to say this is NOT the case. Please!
