For Prince George,  the snow will  persist most of Thursday, dumping  about 15  centimeters of fresh snow.   More snow is predicted for Friday.

For the Peace region,  there is a winter storm watch, as  there  will be gusty northerly winds and  snow accumulations of  15-25 centimeters by the time the storm clears the region  on the weekend.

Environment Canada will be providing  updates on a regular  basis, and we will pass  those updates along.

Okay, I said we needed snow for the winter games to be a success but Come On..lol

Maybe they will complain it is too much now?

This much snow would paralyze the cities west of Hope for months…

Snow in the lower mainland is much different than the snow up here. It is wet and easily turns into compacted snow in which it ice over quickly. thus with summer tire it polishes it off better than most home ice rinks.

Snow in the interior is a lot drier and has a tendency to compact dry. if left for a while, it will turn to ice as it is now.

In the much higher elevation in Burns Lake, 100 milehouse and north. Compacted snow on the road does disappear thru it being so cold that it freeze dries off the compacted snow.

There are other factors which makes it comical to watch the news.

1) wet snow turns to ice immediately
2) Summer tires
3) Lack of snow removal equipment, you really can not expect them to have similar arsenal of equipment as we do in the interior. Nor will they have the personel that can operate the equipment in traffic
4) Drivers who do not know how to drive on the snow or ice.

That’s why they live down there, and we live up here.

He spoke: Even really good winter tires lose their traction down there once they have rolled over that snow. Chains work though.

Snow warning! Oh, so that’s why our street got plowed just now.

My street was plowed today as well, figure it’s better today then after the weekend. If we get the amount predicted then won’t see a plow till late next week.

I don’t care, bring it on. I own a jacked up 4×4 with LED lights, and no I am not compensating for any lack of!!

GM, yer right, just got ours done.
