Unemployment Drops in Prince George

Prince George, B.C. – Unemployment dropped to 4.2% in Prince George last month, down from 5.7% recorded in January of 2014.There were 50,700 people working in Prince George last month, compared to 49,800 in the same month a year ago. “The change in the number of employed is not statistically significant” says Vincent Ferrao of Stats Canada Labour Survey ” However, the 1.5% drop in unemployment is.”
Regionally, the unemployment rate for the Cariboo was 5% last month, down nearly a full percentage point from the 5.9% recorded in January of 2014.
Provincially, the rate was 5.6%, down from the 6.4% recorded in January of 2013.
Nationally the rate dipped to 6.6% in January, down from an even 7% in the same month a year ago.

Payroll remittance from employers is likely how they derive the number.
This isn’t from the over six hundred people that left town?? haahhah
pgjohn. Your probably right, however if you hold two jobs are you counted twice or once. Many young people work at two or three different places.
