Prince George, B.C. – Director of Public Works for the City of Prince George, Bill Gaal, has retired.
An employee of the City for more than 30 years, Gaal’s retirement has been planned for some time.
The City has been grooming Associate Director, Gina Layte Liston to take over the Public Works Department for the better part of a year, speaking on behalf of the Public Works Department in the City.
Editor’s note:
The article has been revised to reflect a correction, Gaal did not replace Marco Fornari, as Fornari reported to Gaal. We apologize for the inaccuracy.

Thankyou Bill Gaal. I believe you did an excellent job, and the ham stringing you got rubbed you the wrong way.
I wish you well in retirement. I hear Penticton’s nice if you can handle the mild weather….
Why would he leave Prince George??? Its such a great City.
Palopu, I didn’t read he was leaving but if he was going to I would imagine it had something to do with the streets disrepair and the damage to his car ;-)
Hey Bill, ‘bye ‘bye now. See ya. Wish you well in your retirement. Have fun.
Now maybe we can get an operational and efficient street management.
Maybe it’s because he put in over 30 years and now would like to retire and enjoy his life, ever thought of that! Well deserved and enjoy.
Explains The lack of enthusiasm..
So how much are we paying to have him retire ?
Wish I could be hopeful here but let’s face it, Bill Gaal,s replacement was hand picked by him and the last incompetent regime, how do we expect that to work out. Time to hire real professionals that come trained with a track record instead of just shuffling the same old worn out deck of cards.
Well I don’t know the man, never met him, but I think it is inappropriate to send him off to retirement with a lot of negative comments. Bad karma, people.

negative comments. Bad karma
Its kind of the trend on this site.
Thank you Mr.Gaal for your years of service. I wish you well in your retirement.
So the man who last winter told us as taxpayers we expect to much to have the roads plowed and sanded is retiring. Glad to see him go.
opinions are like derriers, everyone’s got one, mine has been wiped! Guess I musta went too far! So in the spirit of positive comments I will say this about Mr. Gaal’s retirement… It’s about time!
Spectators at future council meetings will miss his “entertaining” reports to council.
I am certain his employees will miss how he publicly commends them on the jobs they do.
The general public will hopefully no longer have someone at the helm telling them that their expectations are too high.
As a parting word for his 30 yrs of dedicated service please refer to the song by Steve Miller Band “Take the money and run”
That is my opinion, take it or wipe it.
