Charges Approved Against RCMP Officers on Vancouver Island
Victoria, B.C.- Four RCMP officers from two different detachments on Vancouver Island have been charged in connection with two separate incidents investigated by the Independent Investigations Office.
In Nanaimo, a charge of Assault causing bodily harm has been approved against a member of the Nanaimo detachment of the R.C.M.P. in relation to an incident alleged to have occurred in the detachment cells in Nanaimo on June 15, 2014.
Charged is Cst. Tim Bedard who is scheduled to make his first court appearance March 17, 2015 in Nanaimo.

The charge alleges excessive force was used when a person was pepper sprayed. While the complainant did suffer injuries, the Criminal Justice Branch has concluded there is not enough evidence to convict anyone on charges related to the injuries. Charged with Assault with a Weapon are; Cst. Scott Kennedy Jones, Cpl. Michelle Rene Lebrun and Cst. Mick Donald White . They are scheduled to appear in court in Nanaimo on March 17th.
