Prince George, B.C.- During the Canada Winter Games, the Prince George  Airport Authority  offered a “Spin to Win” game at its booth  in the Canada Winter Games Plaza,  they also had a donation box on hand, and plenty of folks  took advantage of the opportunity to make a donation.

For those who made a donation, they were given a YXS pin with proceeds going to the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation’s Festival of Tree.

“We knew pin trading was a huge part of the Games, so YXS had a couple thousand pins made,” commented Marketing and Communications Manager, Lindsay Cotter. “The first few days of the Games we were giving them out free only to be asked if there was a cost. At that point we decided our pins would be a great way to support a local cause we already have strong ties to. There are a number of coin boxes throughout the terminal befitting the Festival of Trees, so we wanted to enhance that program and support a great local event.”

The PG Airport Authority has participated in the Spirit of the North’s Annual Festival of Trees event for 5 years, each year helping to raise much needed funds for local healthcare. Their donation box during the 2015 Canada Winter Games added over $825 towards the Festival of Trees and local healthcare.

“The more we can do to strengthen relationships with local organizations the better,” stated PG Airport Authority President and CEO, John Gibson. “This is another example of a great partnership between the airport and a local not for profit doing great work throughout northern BC.”

“The Prince George Airport has been providing amazing support to the Spirit of the North for many years,” commented Spirit of the North CEO, Judy Neiser. “We applaud their creative approach to fundraising through the 2015 Games and thank them for their generous support in helping to bring the best of care closer to home in the North by passing along these donations.   They are truly partners in making this City the great community it is in so many ways.  Thank you YXS!”
