Prince George, B.C. – People have registered in large numbers for today’s Spirit of the Rivers Loppet at the Otway Nordic Centre.

Organizers note “a whopping 165 participants” have signed up, compared to the usual 130 with some “unique” entries.

“Many people are skiing with bunnies, others are pulling their children on chariots, there are previous year’s winners, two time Olympians, ex-national team members, ex-Canada Winter Games provincial representatives and visitors from Vanderhoof, Burns Lake, Fort St. John, and Whitehorse,” reads an event press release.

It will also include former event winners Lauri Karjaluoto (1979, 1980, 1992, and 1995), Chris Paulsen (1988 and 1993), Kris Yip (2012), and Esther Grondalen (1988, 1993, 1994, and 1995).
