It Smells Great…….
staff gather around vats of brewing wine
Prince George- Its Up ,Up and away at the new winery on the banks of the Nechako River. Christine Leroux is at the winery acting as a consultant as to how to get the best product out.
She consults a host of wineries in BC, including Elephant Island , the largest fruit wine maker in BC.
Leroux refers to wine made from grapes as, grape wine, while wines made from blueberries, rhubarb, strawberries, and the newest berry , Haskap , as Fruit wines. she says fruit wines normally go better with food.
The newest berry on the market, Haskap is grown in Quesnel by Heritage farms , and they are supplying the fruit for Pat Bells, Northern Lights Estate Winery.
Bell says Leroux is on a retainer and will visit the winery several times a year to ensure that the winery is getting the quality product. Bell says he is ecstatic about how things are coming along, “we are in the midst of producing both wines made from the new Haskap berry along with rhubarb”. I can’t wait to see the end product, he adds.
The View
The facility, located on Pulp Mill road is hoping at some future date to open a small restaurant in the facility, which sits on the banks of the Nechako River.

Nice looking facility, looks like they spent some serious money, on the stainless equipment we can see in the picture anyway. Lots of natural light through those windows, great views of the river and orchard to be.
Good location, in proximity to the city. I would like to tour the place when that becomes available to the public.
Needs a finished ceiling, to cut down on the potential for dust and debris, and to reflect light. That would give the impression of a cleaner facility as opposed to the unfinished look of open floor or roof joists.
Right now it looks like someone’s basement.
Lots of white & bright with nice stainless vessels, sinks, workbenches, they just make a place like that look cleaner .
A better choice for heat than that radiant tube right above the vats would have been in floor radiant.
All in all, a great addition to Prince George.
metalman.
Wait until the Nechako River floods their land and listen to them yell!
of course it wouldn’t be their fault for building too close to the river.
The river would not dare!
metalman.
