Prince George, B.C. – The YMCA of Northern BC has wrapped up another successful Strong Kids Campaign.

The 5th annual event raised $15,969 and will allow underprivileged children to participate in a variety of YMCA programs including outdoor camp, a leadership program, and skating lessons.

CEO Amanda Alexander and Liberal MLA Shirley Bond marked the occasion by unveiling the Y’s donor wall this afternoon.

“This is what makes Prince George great,” said Alexander. “It’s about the folks who see the important work that non-governmental organizations do, charities do, and step up and try and make a difference. That’s what I’m so appreciative about.”

Bond was also on hand to express her appreciation.

“I want to thank the Y for the great work they do in our community,” she said.

“This is about creating healthy communities and when you think of healthy communities you think of the Y. We know that strong communities require strong kids and so this is a very important fundraising campaign.”
