Terrace, B.C. – Mounties celebrated the memory of slain RCMP Constable Michael Buday today by naming a park after him.

Buday was murdered March 19, 1985 on the shores of Teslin Lake by 33 year old Michael Eugene Oros.

Buday, a police service dog handler and a member of the Emergency Response Team with the Terrace RCMP at the time, was just 27 years old.

To mark the anniversary, a large plaque at the park behind the 5300 block of Mountain Vista was unveiled.

Re-naming this specific park was very fitting as Mike’s brother said that Mike used to run at the park with his dog.

The ceremony was attended by family, friends, fellow officers, and officials with the City of Terrace.
