Prince George, BC – The first day of spring was a rainy one…
The raindrops did turn to a light dusting of snow as the temperature cooled overnight.
All in all, though, it was a mild start to the new season, with the temperature climbing to a high of 5.4 degrees yesterday.
And while the official arrival of spring varies from March 19 to the 21st every year, we thought we’d offer up the record high and low for yesterday for comparison’s sake – we were no where near the record high of 17.8 degrees set in 1960, but we were also a LOT warmer than the low of minus 23.3, recorded in 1952.
Prince George received more than 15mm of rain yesterday, which is great for the crocus shoots working their way out of the ground. March 20th, 1958 holds the record for greatest snowfall recorded with 17.5cm and in 1982, there was a whopping 72.0cm on the ground.
Today, there is a chance of more snow or rain this morning, as we climb to a high of plus 4. Tomorrow will be sunny and 8 degrees. By the end of next week, the high is forecast to reach 13 degrees.
