Cariboo Cougars Lose Opener Of BCMML Championship Series

Saturday, March 21, 2015 @ 6:50 AM

Prince George, BC – The Prince George Cariboo Cougars fell 5-3 to the Vancouver North East Chiefs in game one of the BC Major Midget League Championship Series in Kin One last night.

The Cougars jumped to a 2-0 lead, thanks to a power play goal from Colton Thomas midway through the first, followed by a shot from Mitchell Williams that deflected off a Chiefs defenceman in the second.  That goal proved to be the jolt the Chiefs needed, as the offence exploded with three goals in three minutes.

Vancouver jumped out to a 4-3 lead early in the third, before Austin Gray brought the Cougars to within one goal, but it was not to be, as the Chiefs’ Caleb Fantillo scored his second of the period to give Vancouver the first game of the series.

Game two goes this afternoon at 1:30pm in Kin One.  Game three, if necessary, is scheduled for 10am tomorrow.
