PG Man Killed At US Border, Wanted In Connection With Calgary Murder
Prince George, BC – A Prince George man wanted in connection with murder in Calgary, Alberta, was shot and killed by US Border Patrol Services as he attempted to cross into the United States on foot near Sumas, Washington on Thursday.
Alberta RCMP’s ‘K’ Division Stragetic Communications Officer, Constable Jason Curtis, confirms that 20-year-old Jamison Edward Childress of Prince George was killed during an altercation that ensued as US Border Patrol agents were responding to an alarm triggered by the unauthorized crossing.
Constable Curtis says Childress was wanted in connection with a murder that occurred in Calgary earlier this month. Warrants were also issued for his arrest in BC Provincial Court in Prince George last week, where Childress was scheduled to appear to face unrelated charges on Tuesday and Friday.
“We were in the process of getting judicial authorization for first degree murder at the time of (Childress’) death,” says the RCMP constable. “He was flagged as ‘Special Interest-Police’ on CPIC, which is our system of flagging individuals for other law enforcement.”
Childress was wanted in connection with the murder of 18-year-old Brando Walker, whose body was discovered by two men out fishing on the Tsuu T’ina Reserve, just southwest of Calgary, on March 7th. RCMP believe Walker was actually killed in a home in the Saddleridge neighbourhood of Calgary.
Three other individuals, including a 15-year-old youth, were arrested over the past three days for their alleged parts in the homicide. The male youth is facing a charge of second degree murder, 21-year-old Chad William Gosselin has been charged with accessory to murder, and 20-year-old Dylan Steven Cameron is facing a charge of manslaughter.
Meantime, Childress failed to show up for a scheduled court appearance in Prince George on Tuesday to face an assault charge in connection with an incident that occurred in the city in October of 2013. His court appearance on Friday was to face a charge of mischief in connection with an incident that occurred earlier in the fall of 2013.

Murder in one town, assault in another and gets shot at the border before he is even legal to get in a bar in the US. How does one go that far sideways in 20 years?
