Monday, March 23, 2015 @ 10:09 AM

McBride, B.C. – Two men are dead following an avalanche near McBride over the weekend.

Mounties aren’t releasing names, but confirm the two are from Ponoka (29 years old) and Sherwood Park (36 years old).

The pair were snowmobiling with two other men from Alberta on the Dore River drainage area when an avalanche occurred just before 2pm Saturday afternoon.

North District Corporal Dave Tyreman says two of the four men were able to dig themselves out and survive.

He says the pair managed to dig the third man out but not before he had succumbed to his injuries.

Due to hazardous conditions, the second victim was located yesterday following a search and rescue mission.
