Bowlers Raise Funds For UHNBC Pediatrics

Prince George, BC – The second annual bowling tournament for ‘Duffy’ allowed members of the city’s five bowling leagues to come together to remember two avid bowlers, and raise money for a good cause.
Richard Allen ‘Duffy’ Lougheed had been a long-time bowler when he died last March after suffering a heart attack at the age of 48. Fellow bowler and friend, Cyril Schultz, lost his battle to cancer in October 2014. The fundraiser at Strike Zone attracted 19 bowlers, who came out to honour both men.
“The tournament is not about the score, or who wins,” says organizer, Ryan Paziuk. “It’s about raising money for something near and dear to Duffy’s heart; Duffy was close to Cyril Schultz’s son, Paul, who, as a child, suffered from cancer.”
Paziuk says many of the participants commented that one or the other could always be found at Strike Zone. “Cyril, for years, fixed bowling balls and both he and Duffy were synonymous with bowling to everyone who came here. It was a great way to celebrate two guys who meant a lot.”
Money raised at the tournament is going to the Pediatrics department at the University Hospital of Northern BC.

Imagine if we found the same funds for the winter games, and put them into the pediatrics ward at the hospital…
Still waiting for that huge economic impact we apparently had.
Let’s focus on the story ….
Well done Ryan and the gang … good on you for taking the time and effort to show your respect to your friends gone ahead and do a good deed!
