Conifex Power Completes Run Test in Mackenzie
Prince George, B.C. – Conifex is reporting that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Conifex Power Limited Partnership has cleared a sizeable hurdle in its bioenergy project with the completion of a continuous 72-hour run test at its 36 MW biomass power plant in Mackenzie.
Conifex had previously entered into an agreement with BC Hydro to sell renewable biomass electricity into the BC energy grid. Residual matter produced at the company’s sawmill operations will be used to generate the power to be purchased by Hydro. Conifex estimated it would be able to produce 230 gigawatt hours of energy per year, producing annual revenue of $25 million.
Conifex Power Partnership says the completion of the run test, requiring formal acknowledgement by BC Hydro, was a key requirement to receiving a commercial operation date in accordance with the Electricity Purchase agreement. The company says once it gets that date it can begin selling power to Hydro.

These guys spent a lot of money re-purposing that old newsprint mill, and in the process provided a lot of construction jobs. I’m glad they are finally getting to the point of selling electricity.
