Tax Rate Bylaw Up for First Two Readings
Prince George, B.C. -Tonight Prince George City Council will be asked to give the first two readings of its municipal tax bylaw for 2015.
There is little doubt the bylaw will move forward as the Committee of the Whole approved the rate structure at a meeting last week and recommended Council take the steps to make it official.
Under the bylaw, residential property owners will be asked to pay $6.61844 per thousand dollars of assessed value for the General Municipal tax. There are more amounts per thousand dollars of assessment to be added to that total:
0.55602 for Snow removal
0.43967 for Road Rehabilitation
0.18374 for the Canada Winter Games, and
0.13546 for the General Infrastructure Reinvestment Fund
Don’t forget about the Regional District portion of the tax bill, as the City collects those dollars on behalf of the Regional District of Fraser Fort George. Residential property owners in Prince George will pay another 0.95464 per thousand dollars of assessment for the Regional District services such as 9-1-1 and the Fraser Fort George Regional Hospital fund.
The tax bill as presented does not yet include the School tax.

You go ahead and vote, we did last election and sent a message that was very clear to concil that if you keep raising taxes your out of a job.
I said there would be taxes added for the Winter Games and numerous people were not very complimentary about it…well here you go… in print…taxes to pay for Winter Games.
Make the people who demanded the games pay.
Racer, why not give it a rest already. The Winter Games Levy has been on the books for 4 years already and as per the bylaw that established it 2015 is the last year for the special levy.
Anybody and everybody who actually pays attention knows that we were slated to pay $40 per year for 5 years for a total of $200.
It’s high time to get over it, and the never ending rant come to a merciful end!
NyteHawwk is right. This should be the last year for the Winter Games Tax.
It’s only $40 per year if your house is worth approx $200,000. There are a lot of houses worth more than $200k so a lot of people paid more than $200 for the winter games.
Hmmm, looks like taxes are going up! Well, that’s a first!
Sarcasm People, sarcasm!!
With the way the be gov and our local council where saying about the influx of money and tourism the games would bring in you would think that we would have money overflowing our coffers.. Guess they lied to us about that too.
According to what I just looked up the average house price in pg is $230,000
This was passed along to me earlier today:
