Man Dies in ATV Crash, Alcohol Believed to be a Factor

Fort Nelson, B.C. – Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in a fatal ATV crash this weekend in Fort Nelson.

North District Corporal Dave Tyreman says the 40 year old Fort Nelson area man died early Saturday morning after his ATV crashed on a rural trail south of town.

He says all attempts to save the man at the scene were unsuccessful.

In light of this tragedy, Tyreman reminds ATV enthusiasts “to follow the same rules as if they were driving a car on the roads.”

He says that includes not drinking alcohol while behind the wheel. The name of the deceased has not been released.

I am surprised there are not more deaths considering how a lot of people drive them on the backroads.

And considering the horrible terrain they are used for.
