Crews Making Progress on Little Bobtail Lake Fire
Prince George, B.C.- Firefighters have made some progress on battling the Little Bobtail Lake fire, which is now 30% contained.
Favourable conditions yesterday gave crews a boost in establishing control lines and reinforcing existing ones.
Night crews completed burn off operations along the north flank of the fire, eliminating patches of fuel left between the fire perimeter and the guard.
Crews may conduct burn off operations this morning again, if conditions allow. While temperatures are cooler, the ignition operations illustrate that there are still dry pockets out there that can easily burn.
The fire has not grown in size, holding at 25 thousand hectares.
There are still 315 firefighters, • 315 firefighters , eleven helicipters, 38 pieces of heavy equipment and6 airtankers working this blaze.
Aircraft will continue to support ground crews cooling down spot fires, reinforcing dozer lines and supporting safety routes for crews.

Wow, 25,000 hectares. That is going to leave a mark.
Wish this had been hit harder at the start. Bob Simpson was right.
Coulda, woulda, shoulda…I (for one) would like to commend those who are out there fighting this fire. If fingers must be pointed in any of this, it goes back a looong way to the start of the pine beetle epidemic. Too little too late. Lets deal with the here and now, protect structures and lives. Forests will burn, nature’s way of clean up as it has been since before human tampering. Hopefully this fire is not a sign of our summer to come.
