Hydro Crews Working on Power Outage

Prince George, B.C. – B.C. Hydro is reporting a power outage in Prince George as stormy weather encompasses portions of the city.

Power to 559 customers was knocked out at 5:13 this afternoon when a Hydro wire came down.  The area affected is east of Johnson Street, south of River Road, north of Highway 16 and west of Quebec Street.  BC Hydro hopes to have power restored by 7:30 this evening.

Thunderstorms have been reported in the area and there is a possibility of more storms in the vicinity of Prince George this evening.

Twenty customers are without power in Burns Lake due to a tree coming down on a hydro line.  And 5 customers in Fort St. John lost their power when a bird contacted a wire.

Must have been one large bird, has to contact two wires to fry.

Crows are a common cause of bird outages. contact can be between the cross arm and wire.
