Prince George, B.C. – Organizers of the 2015 March Against Monsanto picked a high-profile location in Prince George for their rally on Saturday.

They set up tables, signs, brightly-coloured balloons and other attention-drawing paraphernalia next to MR PG at the Highway 97/16 intersection to draw attention to the Monsanto Corporation, the world’s largest producer of genetically-modified organisms.  Genetic modification involves the mutation, insertion or deletion of genes.  The protest is held globally each year, beginning at 11 a.m. local time, and involves millions of people around the world.

Prince George organizer Karmjeet Manhas says there are several areas of controvery related to GMOs, including the lack of labeling to inform the consumer, the role of government regulators, the effect on pesticide resistance, the effect of GM crops on health, the environment and farmers and the role of these crops in feeding the global population.

Manhas says since the protest started there is a growing awareness and a decision by people to pay attention to what materials they are putting into their bodies.  He agrees that there could well be a correlation between the aging of the baby boom generation and the increased desire to live a healthier lifestyle.  Manhas says, “whoever would have thought that in a town with a redneck reputation we would see an increase in concern about these poisonous foods, but we are.”

So any proof this food is harmful?

Big protest!

Watch a documentary on Monsanto and you’ll figure it out. Brutal company.

Good luck there pgman, seamutt is a believer and an investor in all things unnatural.

Most processed food is not good for you. Nor is the corn fed beef, pork, chickens, etc;

Buy as little as possible and don’t support any Monsanto product. They only understand market share. That’s it.

I didn’t know we were a town with a **redneck** reputation. Hmmmmmm.

This would have been a golden opportunity for CSIS to infiltrate this protest, and if necessary use the new powers of bill C-51 to ensure these people don’t go to far with their protests.

Monsato is a horrible company…

Makes farmers who buy their seeds throw out any extra and can’t use them the next year, have sued farmers who don’t use their seeds but as some seeds are carried by wind to their property mansanto says they are stealing.

Monsanto has gmo seeds that you shouldn’t hold in your bare hands .. How can that be healthy ?

They want to own every seed in the world.

……….
Apparently it may cause certain people to refer to neighbours – friends as Red Necks.

so let’s see we are supposed to believe scientists when they say we are going to cook. Then we are supposed to not believe scientists when they say GMOs are safe, so confusing.

GMO’d watermelons have been around so long I can’t remember the last time I bought one with seeds. IMO they tasted better but I have to admit seedless watermelon are easier to eat.

And how is people not believing scientists about GMO, but believing them about global warming ANY different than you believing them about GMO and NOT believing them about global warming?

It’s not just seedless watermelons, when did strawberries start growing to the size of baseballs? We also have the Canadian product, the Arctic Apple coming soon. No more brown flesh after cutting.

If the drought in California continues unabated, we’re all going to embrace GMO food faster than ants at a picnic. Heck, at the rate we’re going Soylent Green is going to look awfully tasty.

I would encourage everyone to read up on Monsanto, GMO seeds, Round-Up, now insecticide resistant weeds and insects….super bugs.

I find it interesting Monsanto also lobbies to prevent labelling of GMO products so that people can make an informed decision.

Is it possible that GM crops are a contributing factor to the disappearance of honey bees? The poor number of bees is becoming a concerning matter.

No proof of harm yet.

copy, paste and eliminate the space between the p and the :

Ya eliminate gmo products and watch the starvation rates sky rocket. After thousands of years of agriculture, what isn’t a gmo product. Do we feed the world on ancient Peruvian potatoes? Just another misplaced cause.

Monsanto is exercising the same copyright laws as our local artist.

Is it possible that GMO products can cause ED?

Had to laugh about that documentary where the head of research at one of the GMO companies, maybe it was Monsanto, or another one, was asked by his wife what they were currently working on, and he told her that they were developing a new hormone to make a cow produce twice as much milk as it normally would.

She then asked him why they’d want to do a dumb thing like that, since there was already way more milk being produced everywhere than could ever be sold, and farmers all had to be restrained by quotas or the sheer glut of milk coming onto the market would depress milk prices to the point where none of them could make a dime producing it.

Methinks there is maybe too much research into interfering with the processes of nature ~ maybe without fully understanding what we’re doing, or at least making sure we err on the side of caution before we do ~ and way too little research into why a man-made financial process that should properly reflect our ability to overcome scarcity in ‘prices’ to the benefit of consumers without ruining the producer can’t be established to the advantage of all.

Why not just label the foods Organic or GMO, then leave it up to consumers to choose? No… wait… that makes too much sense;

“We oppose current initiatives to mandate labeling of ingredients developed from GM seeds in the absence of any demonstrated risks. Such mandatory labeling could imply that food products containing these ingredients are somehow inferior to their conventional or organic counterparts.” ~ Monsanto website

And… back to square one!

There you go again Pal. we are talking about GMO foods so what do rednecks have to do with food production? next I guess I will get cow pies to digest.
Geta life Pal.
Cheers

I heard tell of a fella who went on a GMO only diet, which his wife said caused a dramatic increase in his virility from 30 seconds to 2 minutes.
