UNBC Sets Stage for Convocation
Prince George, B.C.- It’s convocation time at UNBC.
This Friday, more than 700 credentials will be granted and President Daniel Weeks will be officially installed , receiving his ceremonial robes during the College of Arts, Social and Health Sciences convocation ceremony at 9:30 Friday morning.
Being installed as part of the Convocation ceremonies rather than having a separate event, is a big money saver. The dollars saved will be used to create 20 Leadership Awards worth $2,500 each.
While being officially installed, Weeks will be saving his inaugural address for June 20th, when UNBC officially celebrates its 25th Anniversary.
The convocation event this Friday will take place at the Northern Sport Centre.
The events in Prince George are among 6 UNBC convocation ceremonies that will take place throughout the north. Next week, events are also scheduled for UNBC satellite campuses:
June 1 – Gitwinksihlkw – Ts’oohl Ts’ap Memorial Hall
June 2 – Northwest (Terrace) – REM Lee Theatre – 2 p.m.
June 4 – South-Central (Quesnel) – North Cariboo Community Campus – 2 p.m.
June 5 – Fort St. John – North Peace Cultural Centre – 7 p.m.

Saving money is always nice but why on earth is there even a ceremony for the new president?
