Cougars Unveil New Logo
Prince George, B.C. – The New Ice Age now has a new logo to go along with it.
The Prince George Cougars unveiled it in front of over 200 fans today at CN Centre.

It was designed locally by Splash Media and is the fifth in team history. The Cougars received permission from the league to fast track it as it usually takes at least 18 months for the WHL to approve logo changes and the new ownership took control of the team just over a year ago.
“It was very important for us to respect the history of both the Prince George Cougars name and logo during this process, particularly since two of our owners played such a vital part in helping creating this team’s identity when they played in Prince George,” said Cougars president Greg Pocock. “Our new logo keeps the similar colour scheme that our fans have come to know and love, while also providing a new identifiable symbol that will help unite our fans as the excitement and passion continues to build for all that lies ahead for us.”
Head coach Mark Holick liked what he saw “I think they did a great job. I think it’s simple and it displays what we’re all about. We’re a simple group here. We work hard and we get after it.”
Scout Trevor Sprague agreed, calling it a “pro” like look. “Everything that the new ownership has done has been professional. This is just another step in them putting their stamp on a new logo.”
The fans also approved, with one gentleman noting “Super, I like it because it’s very aggressive.” While another said “It looks really good. It’s definitely different. I like it on the black shirt, I haven’t really looked at it on the white.”

I am all for the new ice age. However, I do not like the new logo. I preferred the old one. Sorry all.
At first blush it does look a little thundercats-ish. Once you really start looking at it, it looks nothing like it.

Hey Axman, if you ever left your trailer, you would realize they really are a simple group of guys.

Huge hockey fan here, this logo is amateurish and disappointing.
This was a first class event put on by the Cougars organization … love the new logo, as did those in attendance & I go to sit beside 250 News; what could be better!

Hmmm, doesn’t do much for me….just okayish. Would like something that really strikes you at first glance and not just “simple”.

You have to admit, it was a much better insult then your attempt with the trailer comment.
Reminds me of the emblem on 1990’s Mercury Cougars.
I think they should change the Cougars name altogether.

I must say it didn’t take much thought to come up with that. I guess it’s a take-off on the Canucks Orca. It’s a very weak logo and we sure don’t want to appear weak. On the black jersey it’s better than on the white but neither look good. I’ve been going to games since the Cougars came to town and have bought a lot of promo material jackets, hats, etc. I can’t see myself buying anything with that on it.

P Val, it’s hard to change a team name as it is part of the franchise when sold or relocated. Memphis Grizzlies? Utah Jazz? New logo is better than the old one.
terrible and amateur logo. College Heights Cougars have a more inspiring logo haha
