Weekend Crashes Claim Two Lives
Prince George, B.C. – It proved a deadly weekend on northern B.C. roads.
The first fatality took place Friday, when police say they received a complaint of a stolen vehicle from a farm on the 219 road in Dawson Creek.
Corporal Dave Tyreman says the vehicle subsequently crashed, killing a 45 year old woman.
He says the second death occurred yesterday morning following a single vehicle collision approximately 20 kilometers north-east of Chetwynd on Highway 97.
Tyreman says the crash killed a 73 year old Williams Lake man after the pickup he was driving went off the road, entered the ditch, and struck an embankment.
He says the other person in the pickup, a 65 year old woman, is expected to survive her injuries.
Tyreman says speed and alcohol were not responsible for the crash.
No names have been released.
